Society of Saint-Vincent de Paul

Last Updated on October 20, 2014

The Society of Saint-Vincent de Paul (“SSVP”) is a Catholic lay organization open to men and women 18 years and older.

It was started by a Parisian university student, Frederic Ozanam, in the 19th century.

Our mission is “to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice and joy.”

Our objective is to provide works of charity within the community and to promote the Catholic faith, our challenge is to serve, protect, and speak for the poor, and of core importance is the practice of home visitations. Home visitations involve going out to those in need. We require two members to make a home visitation for practical and spiritual reasons.

The St Philip Parish Conference of SSVP was established on June 4, 2014. It is part of the Ottawa Central Council which is part of the Ontario Region.

The SSVP Store is located at 1273 Wellington Street West (phone: 613-722-7166).

If you, or someone you know, is in need you may contact the SSVP St Philip Conference by phoning the Parish Office at 613-838-2314.
